September 5, 2008 | Mark Wilson: Fascinatin' Doll
This summer, we've had the good fortune of bringing you excellent music theory articles by Mark Wilson, Texas-based professional bassist/converted mando enthusiast, and creator of the original Intellitouch Tuner. His presentations in our Tips and Tricks sections are a must read; you might even consider printing them off for your files:
Grip #1
Tetrachordal Approach to Major Scale Modes Part 1
Tetrachordal Approach to Major Scale Modes Part 2
Tetrachord/Mode Syllabus
In addition to these, he's favored us with a terrific audio interpretation of one of the "Getting Into Jazz Mandolin" five song tracks, "Fascinatin' Doll," a derivative tune based on the chord changes of Ellington's "Satin Doll." In the book we scrutinize Tonal Center changes during the song's lesson, but with the book about three weeks away from release, we just want to tease you with his audio contribution. Sit back and enjoy Mark's newly acquired five-string electric mando:

Thanks again, Mark!
