"Good improvisation communicates harmonic progression melodically. Effective melodies manipulate harmonic content through the use of guide tones and preparatory gravity notes, masterfully woven in systematic tension, release, and transparent harmonic definition."

April 8, 2009 | April Mandolin Sessions: Lydian Part 2

In the latest Jazz Mandology article at MandolinSessions.com, we wrap up our final entry on Lydian improvisation. MandolinSessions is a bi-monthly online resources, free and brought to you by the dedicated folks at Mel Bay Publishing. Read Jazz Mandology, and some of the other fine contributing columnists.
