Corey Christiansen Quartet

A glorious night for the final Jazz in June concert, actually the season's best as far as climate. (Ironically, the weather held up and offered the most comfortable temperature and humidity.) Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, guitarist Corey Christiansen and his fabulous quartet of drummer Danny Gottlieb, pianist Per Danielssen, and bassist Ben Wheeler electrified the enthusiastic crowd of 6500 plus.

Pre-concert Workshop
Monday the night before, we were privileged with an educational clinic with Corey and Danny and the rest of the rhythm section. Workshop in the Sheldon was graciously sponsored by Dietze Music, Zildjian Cymbals, Latin Percussion, Mel Bay Publishing and the Sheldon Art Gallery. Many thanks to them for a fabulous night!

Guest Appearance by Lincoln's own (and Jazz in June volunteer) Liz Love, Alto Sax

The night was jazz magic; as the sun set over the horizon, the Jazz got "cooler" and so did the temperature.

"Corey Christiansen is among the most exciting guitarists to arrive on the music scene in years. His appearances at the Smithsonian Institution's Jazz Cafe have drawn accolades from audiences from audiences and critics, alike. Possessing a mature and individual musical voice, Corey plays with the confidence of a veteran and the freshness of a newcomer. As this new album so aptly demonstrates, Corey Christiansen is a major talent!"
